# Convert Lat Long to UTM

This is an effective and fast online *Lat Long to UTM converter*. It can be used to make the stated conversions at any time and any place. Type the latitude and longitude values to convert from lat long coordinate system into **UTM** (Universal Transverse Mercator) coordinate system.

Type the latitude and longitude values to convert into **UTM** (Universal Transverse Mercator) coordinate system.

## What is UTM?

**UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) coordinate system** is basically geographical latitude longitude system that is expressed in two-dimensional projection of the surface of earth where the earth map is divided into 60 zones, with each of them separated by 6 degrees in longitude and the locations are expressed in terms of so called easting and northing, i.e. Easting 380749.6, Northing 4928286.8 This system is most commonly used for military purposes.

- Easting: the x coordinate
- Northing: the y coordinate

### Tips

- You can press ENTER to calculate UTM in the lat long input box.
- If you click on the UTM easting and UTM northing input box, it will auto select the value.
- You can also get the lat long and the UTM values by clicking on the map.

World Geodetic System WGS84 standard is used on this **latitude and longitude to UTM converter**.

Editor's Pick2019-06-04 09:44:19It would be an even better tool if I could enter in UTM Easting and UTM Northing numbers to receive Latitude and Longitude as well as GPS coordinates. Cannot find an online calculator that does this!!! Thank you.

U can check awsm converter where u can do both.

After trying to figure out why things weren't agreeing my GOM maps, I realized you were outputting distances in meters. Oh well, another calculation to do.

This tool is really helpful, thanks!

How to enter a west long. ie - 81.6790? there is no minus sign that I see.

Needed a quick way do the conversion and you provided that - thanks a million

Thanks it is very useful .

For anything below 80 S or above 84 N you're giving a Z zone. Shouldn't below 80 S be either A or B and anything above 84 be Y or Z?

Sorry to say but Calgary seems to be wrong at 707829.81 Easting is too far, I get 298105.16 just outside of Calgary using this software. Im unsure I am not using it correctly to be sure, but it seems to be not working properly if there is anything I can do to fix this, please let me know. Thank you for your time

You have to make sure to click on the map around Calgary, that will put the grid zone in 11u. If not you will be in a different grid zone

Very useful for geo-infomatics. Great job!

Great application - Thank you.

thanks its useful and its easy to verify because it shows on the map the location

Thank you, it's a useful tool to convert latitude and longitude to UTM ...

I found this piece of information very useful and it helped me to conclude work which has been hanging for the past two days.

very nice tool, as others have said, ability to mass convert several lat/long pairs would be nice addition

Still i cant get yet the conversion from latitude/longtitude to northing and easting in 5 digits result. please advise if any. Thanks.

Thanks very much for this.

Hi!

It would have been great if it was possible to convert multiple coordinates (a list). Doing one by one atakes a lot of time

Can we convert batch long lat figures? What if I need to convert 100s of points? Is there a tool for this? Thanks.

its best convertor keep it up

This shareware is a good tool for conversion of coordinates but, for me, i would have appreciated it more if the values come in 3 decimal places.

thanks for the help.

UTM is formally known as the degree??

Hello. Is it possible to change the UTM zone manually ? When I place the lat and long coordinates the easterly UTM conversion is exactly on the map at the point I'm trying to read however the northerly is completely off map. The app automatically selects the UTM Zone which is usually different to the maps I'm using. Thanks, Narelle

I think you interface would be better if you put easting beneath longitude and northing beneath latitude

No, these are standards, Lat-Long and easting-northing.

Excellent converter of Lat Long to UTM coordinates.

please help me to convert X=483237m Y=3441969m ZONE 32R TO UTM

You can use AWSM converter.
