Sahara Desert (الصحراء الكبرى) is the legendary desert located in the north region of the African continent. It is the largest and one of the hottest deserts in the world, with a total area exceeding 3.5 million square miles. It stretches along the whole northern part of the continent and occupies the area of over 10 countries, including the large ones like Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Sudan, Libya, Mauritania, and others. The local climate is extremely dry and usually, the temperature in the area is very high. The desert mainly occupies low altitudes, but there are some mountainous areas as well. It is considered to be the most famous and the deadliest deserts on the planet, which took the lives of many people who have attempted to cross it.

The Sahara Desert is located to the north of the green and fertile lands of Africa, so it is noticed that the desert is slightly becoming greener and greener. Probably in the distant future, that area of the desert will decrease and it will turn into a greener area available for agriculture. Despite being a really hot and really large desert, the Sahara is home to a few small settlements and towns. Most of the territories of Libya and Algeria are located in the Sahara Desert. To the northeast, the Sahara Desert is bordered by the River Nile, the longest river in the world which flows in northeastern Africa and meets the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Cairo in modern Egypt.
