Tokyo Tower, Japan

Tokyo Tower, sometimes referred to as the Japanese Radio Tower, is one of the tallest towers in Japan. It is located in the Shibakoen district of Minato, in downtown Tokyo, at 4 Chome-2-8.

Location and Accessibility

Minato is one of the satellite cities of Tokyo and is situated about 3 miles southwest of Tokyo’s downtown area. The tower is located in the northeastern part of Minato, easily accessible on foot from both Tokyo and Minato city centers.

Height and Design

Tokyo Tower is approximately 1,092 feet tall. Its design closely resembles the Eiffel Tower in shape, though the colors differ. Unlike the Parisian landmark, Tokyo Tower is painted red and white.

Function and Facilities

Since the mid-20th century, Tokyo Tower has been used for broadcasting, and it is possible to rent its antenna for actual transmissions. However, the tower is more than just a broadcast facility. It also functions as a small entertainment center, featuring a large food court, a shrine, a museum, and other visitor facilities.
