The film was a massive commercial success, grossing over $520 million worldwide, and won four Academy Awards, including Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Effects Editing.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day was shot in Los Angeles, California. Filming locations included Elysian Park, Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles County Arboretum, Santa Monica, and Santa Clarita. Filming also occurred in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Chicago in Illinois was used for establishing shots.
