This is the monument which was built to preserved the mmomry about the crash at Mount Torbreck of a Royal Australian Air Force Plane (R.A.A.F.) It took place in 1940, when a bomber crashed at Mount Torbreck resulting in four pilots losing their lives. The monument was built at the very crash site and funded by Flight-Lieutenant Hyland, the father of one of the killer pilots. It was re-constructed and transferred to a more accessible location. Currently, the monument includes the parts of the wreckage of the crashed plane.
