Bergen is a large city in Norway, located on the Bergenshalvøyen peninsula in the southwestern part of the country. The city is surrounded by mountains such as Damsgårdsfjellet, Fløyen, Gullfjellet, and Ulriken, as well as bays and fjords. Bergen lies along the North Sea coast in western Norway.

Formerly known as Bjørgvin, the city was founded around 1070 and served as the capital of Norway during the 12th and 13th centuries. Today, Bergen is one of the largest cities in the country and an important economic and cultural hub. Its economy is mainly based on shipbuilding, tourism, and aquaculture. One of the city’s most famous areas is Bryggen, the historic waterfront district known for its colorful wooden houses.
