Gasherbrum II is a mountain sometimes referred to as K4 and located right at the border between Pakistan and China. It is the 14th tallest mountain in the world and has the elevation close to 26,362 feet. The mountain is a part of the Western Himalayas, of the massif known as Karakoram. It is located right between Broad Peak and Gasherburn I. The name of the mountain that the local people use, Gasherbrum, can be translated as "The Beautiful Mountain" from the Sanskrit. This mountain started being explored since quite early times and is considered to be not too hard to climbed at. The first attempts were undertaken in the 1930s and the first successful attempt was registered in 1958 when a group of Australian climbers managed to reach the peak of the mount. The climbing record was set by a Russian climber who managed to climb to the mountain for 9.5 hours.
