Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a Special Administrative Region (SAR) on China’s southern coast. It covers about 430 square miles (1,104 km²) and is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. Modern settlements in Hong Kong began in the 18th century, and in 1842, it became a British colony. Today, Hong Kong has one of the most advanced economies in the world, with sophisticated financial and business services, modern infrastructure, and a high standard of living. The region also has a large port, making it a key commercial hub. It is known as one of the busiest container ports in the world. Hong Kong International Airport, situated on the island of Chek Lap Kok, also serves the area. Hong Kong is also an educational hub, home to several higher educational institutions, such as The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and City University of Hong Kong.

Hong Kong has more skyscrapers than any other city in the world, such as the International Commerce Centre and the International Finance Centre. It is also a popular tourist destination with numerous attractions.

• The Monster Building (怪獸大廈), located on King’s Road in Quarry Bay (22°17′03.1″N 114°12′44.3″E), is a very popular spot, especially among photographers. It has 18 floors and was completed in the 1960s. Around ten thousand people live in this massive complex.
• Hong Kong Disneyland (香港迪士尼樂園) is one of the major tourist attractions in Hong Kong. Located on Lantau Island (22°18'46.7"N 114°02'28.2"E), the theme park features several rides, shows, cafes, restaurants, and other attractions. Opened to the public on 12 September 2005, it is Hong Kong's most visited theme park. 
• Hong Kong Museum of History (香港歷史博物館) is situated at 100 Chatham Road South, Tsim Sha Tsui (22°18'06.5"N 114°10'37.8"E), near Hong Kong Science Museum. It is a popular history museum showcasing exhibits on the culture and history of Hong Kong. It was opened in July 1975 and is visited by about a million people each year. 
• Temple Street Night Market (廟街夜市) at the famous Temple Street in Hong Kong is another popular attraction. Located at 22°18'23.4"N 114°10'11.7"E, this market starts at 2 p.m. You can find almost anything in this market, from clothing and shoes to electronics and accessories, surrounded by colorful lights.
