Lake Lungern is a wonderful natural lake which can be found in the region of Obwalden, in the central part of Switzerland. Just like plenty of similar small lakes in the area, this one offers truly amazing views and really stunning natural setting. The lake is located near a small picturesque town and is named after it. Beautiful peaks of the Alps make the setting atmospheric and quiet. Decades ago the lake used to be considerably larger, but in the middle of the 19th century an artificial drainage was built in order to lower the level of the lake and open space for living and farming. It is quite easy to reach the lake by the local roads, and there are plenty of tours around the lake area organized by the local companies.
