Meru Peak (मेरू पीक) is a Himalayan mountain and a popular climbing spot located between Thalay Sagar and Shivling, in the Garhwal Himalayas, Uttarakhand, India. It is a 6,660 m (21,850 ft) peak with really challenging routes. Shark's Fin route is known as a highly difficult route with its vertical rock wall on the northwest face of Meru. It is considered one of the hardest climbing routes on earth. Rock climbers Conrad Anker, Jimmy Chin, and Renan Ozturk achieved the world's first ascent of the Shark's Fin route in October 2011. The 2015 documentary movie Meru follows their struggles as they attempt to climb Mount Meru.
