Mogadishu, Somalia

Mogadishu (Muqdisho in Somali; مقديشو in Arabic), also known as Xamar, is a large city in eastern Africa located on the coast of Somalia along the Indian Ocean. It is the country’s capital and serves as its main administrative, political, cultural, and educational center. Mogadishu is also the most populous city and the country’s primary port. Most of its residents are Muslim. The city is approximately 835 miles (1,344 km) from Seychelles.

Mogadishu is home to institutions such as Mogadishu University, Benadir University, and Somali National University. The city is served by Aden Adde International Airport (also known as Mogadishu International Airport).

There are numerous landmarks and points of interest in Mogadishu, including historic mosques, palaces, distinctive architecture, libraries, universities, parks, and gardens. Notable attractions include Jazeera Beach, Warsheekh Beach, Liido Beach, Almnara Tower, Shanghai Old City, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Mogadishu Cathedral, Union Mosque, the Mosque of Islamic Solidarity, Villa Somalia, Governors House Mogadishu, the National Museum of Somalia, the National Library of Somalia, and Bakaara Market.
