Périgueux is a small community in France, situated in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, which is in the south western part of the country. It is a very beautiful old town established in the times of the late Roman Empire and known as the town of Petrocorii. After the 12th century the community used to be developing as a commercial and agricultural center. In modern day's Périgueux there are about thirty thousand people live, and the community is pretty multicultural, with quite a crowded Jewish community living there. The town is famous for its cathedral, Périgueux Cathedral, considered to be among the finest and the best Romanesque churches of the region, built in the mid 17th century. It was designed to be similar to the St. Mark's Basilica in Florence.
