Saint-Tropez

Saint-Tropez is a coastal resort town in the Var department of southeastern France, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, about 77 kilometers southwest of Cannes. Once a small fishing village, it later became a magnet for the European and American jet set in the 1960s. Today, it is one of the most famous destinations on the French Riviera, known for its nightclubs, bars, restaurants, luxury hotels, art galleries, local specialties such as Tarte Tropézienne, sailing yachts in the Old Port, and its beautiful beaches.

Saint-Tropez became widely known as the filming location of Roger Vadim’s Et Dieu… créa la femme (1956), the film that brought Brigitte Bardot to international fame. Several other notable productions were also filmed in the town, including Le gendarme de Saint-Tropez (1964), La Collectionneuse (1967), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), La Piscine (1969), and There’s a Girl in My Soup (1970). More recently, Season 2, Episode 2 (“Do You Know the Way to St. Tropez?”) of Emily in Paris was filmed here as well.

Tourism remains the main economic driver of Saint-Tropez. The town also hosts Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, an annual sailing regatta held in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, attracting boats and crews from around the world.
