It was built in 1825 in Greek Revival style, designed by Alexander Parris and G.J.F. Bryant, and named after Josiah Quincy III, an American educator. The market has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since November 13, 1966, and was designated a National Historic Landmark, as well. Quincy Market is the main building of Faneuil Hall Marketplace. It has a land area of 27,000 square feet.
