It is a box grinder type bridge currently known as the longest prestressed concrete bridge in the southern hemisphere. The total length of the Rio–Niterói Bridge is estimated to be almost 8.3 miles and the width of the bridge is close to 89 feet. The bridge carries 8 lanes and it is a part of Brazilian National Highway 101. The bridge was constructed in the 1974 and for that moment it was the second longest bridge on the planet. Currently, it is among 10 longest bridges in the world.
