Sabiha Gokcen Airport is the third largest international airport in Istanbul, Turkey, and the only one situated on the Asian side of the city. The airport is named after a famous female pilot Sabiha Gokceh who lived in the 20th century and grew up as an adopted daughter of Ataturk. The airport was established in the late 2007s in order to facilitate the load on the main airport of the city, Ataturk Airport. In the early 2010s a considerable portion of the local flights was diverted to Sabiha airport, and currently, the annual amount of passengers served by this air hub is close to 34 million people, making it one of the busiest airport in the country. There is one very large terminal in the airport, and all the facilities and services provided for passengers are modern and up-to-date.
