It is a neolithic monument and an archaeological site made using stones transported from Wales, built between 3000 and 1520 BC. This breathtaking monument has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986. It also has been protected as a scheduled monument since 18 August 1882. Owned by the Crown, Stonehenge is one of the most visited historical landmarks in the country. Standing stones are about 4.0 m high and 2.1 m wide. They weigh about 25 tons. There is a visitor center at Stonehenge. It hosted Stonehenge Free Festival from 1974 to 1984.
