Taipei 101 is a 101-story skyscraper located at No. 7, Section 5, Xinyi Road, in the Xinyi District of Taipei City, Taiwan. Completed in 2004, the building rises to a height of 1,667 feet (508 meters) and features a striking modern design. From 2004 to 2009, it held the title of the tallest building in the world, until it was surpassed by the Burj Khalifa. Today, it remains one of the tallest buildings on Earth.

Formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center, Taipei 101 is the tallest building in Taiwan. It was designed by Taiwanese architects C. Y. Lee and C. P. Wang in the neo-futurist architectural style and was constructed between 1999 and 2004. The building officially opened to the public on December 31, 2004.

Owned by Taipei Financial Center Corporation (Taipei FCC), the skyscraper houses business offices, commercial spaces, restaurants, and observation decks offering panoramic views of the city. Taipei 101 is also famous for its exterior illumination system, which changes color each day according to a weekly theme.

Taipei World Trade Center is located next to Taipei 101, within the same Xinyi District. The skyscraper also features the Taipei 101 Shopping Center, which occupies the lower levels of the building. Taipei 101 is easily accessible via the Taipei 101/World Trade Center Subway Station.

On January 25, 2026, American rock climber Alex Honnold, also known as the first person to free solo a full route on El Capitan, completed a free solo climb of Taipei 101 without using a rope or any safety equipment. The climb was streamed live on Netflix under the title Skyscraper Live.
