The Great Barrier Reef, Australia

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest natural underwater coral reef in the world, located near the northeastern coast of Australia, at the edge of the Coral Sea, and is part of the territory of Queensland. It is one of the most popular and most visited tourist attractions on the planet, with millions of tourists and divers from around the world visiting it every year. The total area of the Great Barrier Reef is estimated to be close to 133,000 square miles, and the landmark includes over 2,900 individual reefs, as well as 900 medium and small islands scattered throughout the area. It is the largest structure on Earth made by living organisms, and the reef can be seen from space near the shores of Australia. 

The Great Barrier Reef is under the protection of local governmental authorities, and it is an enormous natural wonder located under the sea. Most of the reef has been declared a marine park, which is maintained and protected by Australian authorities. There are numerous concerns that global warming and climate change are affecting the condition and habitat of the coral formations. Unfortunately, due to rising ocean temperatures, the reproduction of corals has slowed down considerably. Even the development of corals as living organisms is changing and adapting to the evolving conditions of their habitat.
