The India Gate (इण्डिया गेट), also known as the All India War Memorial or Delhi Memorial, is a war memorial and a triumphal arch located at the eastern end of the Rajpath, the center of New Delhi. It is a 42 meters (138 feet) high, Arc de Triomphe-style gate built to commemorate 70,000 Indian soldiers killed in the First World War. The India Gate was designed by Edwin Lutyens who is the principal planner of New Delhi and designed many other war memorials too. It was established on 10 February 1921. The gate is also almost similar to the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, and the Gateway of India in Mumbai.
