The Moscow Kremlin, Russia

The Moscow Kremlin (Московский Кремль) is the central part and the principal administrative complex of the Russian government. It is located in the heart of Moscow, near the Moskva River. Known as a historic fortress, the Kremlin stands at the very center of Russia’s modern capital and serves as the main symbol of the Russian government. It was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990.

The Kremlin is a complex of historical buildings, including the Kremlin Walls and Towers, four palaces, four cathedrals, and several other structures. It is also the location of the Russian President’s official residence and office. Many important landmarks and historical sites are located in and around the Kremlin, such as the Grand Kremlin Palace, Senatsky Palace, Senate Tower, Troitskaya Tower, Srednyaya Arsenalnaya Tower, Alexander Garden, the Cathedral of the Annunciation, Vodovzvodnaya Tower, the Ivan the Great Bell Tower, the Faceted Palace (Granovitaya Palata), the Tsar Cannon and Tsar Bell, the State Kremlin Palace, the State Historical Museum, Zaryadye Park, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Moscow Art Theatre, and the Bolshoi Theatre.
