A Hidden Life Locations

A Hidden Life is an American period drama romantic war movie written and directed by Terrence Malick. Starring August Diehl, Valerie Pachner, Maria Simon, Matthias Schoenaerts, Tobias Moretti, and Ulrich Matthes, the film follows the story of Austrian farmer Franz Jägerstätter who refuses to fight for the Nazis in World War II. The film premiered on May 19, 2019, at the Cannes Film Festival and was released on December 13, 2019, in the United States. It received several awards, including the François Chalais Prize and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at Cannes. A Hidden Life was shot at Babelsberg Film Studio, located outside Berlin, Germany. Filming also took place in Austria and Italy. Some scenes were filmed in various places in South Tyrol, such as Gsies and Terenten. St.-Valentin-Kirche in Seis am Schlern, Castel Velturno in Feldthurns, and Parco Naturale Puez Odle were among the shooting locations used for the film. The court scenes were filmed at Kammergericht, the highest court in Berlin.
