An American biographical historical drama movie Amistad is produced by Steven Spielberg, Debbie Allen, and Colin Wilson, directed by Spielberg, and written for the screen by David Franzoni. Starring Morgan Freeman, Anthony Hopkins, Djimon Hounsou, Matthew McConaughey, Nigel Hawthorne, David Paymer, Pete Postlethwaite, and Stellan Skarsgård, the film was released on December 25, 1997, and nominated for four Academy Awards, including "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" and "Best Music, Original Dramatic Score". Amistad was shot at Sonalyst Studios in Waterford and Universal Studios in California. Rosecliff, a historical place museum, was used for the scenes of the White House dining room. Marble House in Rhode Island was used as a stand-in for Queen Isabella's palace. The port scenes took place at Mystic Seaport.
