The film stars Aubrey Plaza, Theo Rossi, Megalyn Echikunwoke, Gina Gershon, Bernardo Badillo, Kara Luiz, Janice Sonia Lee, Wesley Han, and Brandon Sklenar. The film won a few awards including "Best Feature Film" and "Best Actress" at the 2022 Annapolis Film Festival. It was also named one of the Top Ten Independent Films by the National Board of Review. Emily the Criminal was shot in Los Angeles and Mexico. The ending scene took place in Puerto Vallarta, a town situated on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It is famous for its beaches, nightclubs, and resort hotels.
