The film won an Oscar for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Paul Newman) as well as three nominations. The Color of Money was shot in New Jersey and Illinois. The interior and exterior scenes for Janelle's bar took place at FitzGerald's, located at 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. The casino exteriors were filmed in Atlantic City.
