Albemarle is a city in central North Carolina, United States, located 40 miles northeast of Charlotte and 65 miles southwest of Greensboro. The city serves as the seat of Stanly County. It is situated at the intersection of U.S. Route 52 and North Carolina Highway 24. Stanly County Airport also serves the area. Albemarle is home to Stanly Community College, a public community college established in 1971. The city has several points of interest, such as Badin Road Drive-In Theater, City Lake Park, Stanly County History Center, and Rock Creek Park.
Morrow Mountain State Park, situated within the Uwharrie Mountains, is located east of the city. The state park was established in 1935 and has an area of 5,881 acres (23.80 km2). Morrow Mountain Scenic Vista is among the major attractions in the area. Others include the historic Kron House and Lake Tillery. The park has camping areas, hiking trails, and a museum.
