Amsterdam Centraal, Netherlands

The Central Railway Station in Amsterdam, known as Amsterdam Centraal, is one of the main transportation hubs of the country and the whole region of northwestern Europe. The railway station building is located on a small island surrounded by canals and is also connected to the rest of the city by a metro line. The station is one of the busiest in the country, serving over 250,000 passengers a day, which is one of the highest figures in the region.

The station can be reached by the Amsterdam Metro (lines 51, 52, and 53), local tram services, or buses, both local and international. As is the case with many other central railway stations in major European cities, there are small bus stations located near the railway station in Amsterdam.

The railway station building is one of the most spectacular structures in the capital city and has secured its place among the most important landmarks of Amsterdam. It was constructed at the end of the 19th century, and its design was created by the then well-known local architect Pierre Cuypers. The building is a fine example of the Gothic Renaissance Revival style, built mainly from brick, with many other parts made from cast iron.

The station is located in the very central part of the city; therefore, it is extremely popular among local travelers. The Amsterdam train station is also known as the home of the second-longest railway platform in the country, with a length of nearly 695 meters.
