Highway 61 is one of the most famous routes of the US, and this one connects the southern and the northern parts of the country. The route is about 14 hundred miles long ans it begins in New Orleans and runs north, mainly along the Mississippi river. From Louisiana, it passes across Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin and ends up in Minnesota. The route has been used since the middle of 1920s and during the early times was the only alternative since there were no effective railways available to deliver passengers from the south to the very north of the country. Nowadays, the route is a really interesting road to take and enjoy the nature and the views of the country, traveling fro its northern to the southern edge, or vise versa.
