Shantraud is a town known also as Killaloe, situated in Co. Clare, in the very central part of Ireland. It is a wonderful small settlement and a small community, with about 13 hundred people living there. Killaloe is located at the very southern edge of Lough Derg, and it can be reached by Highway M7 by moving north east of the city of Limerick. Those who come to visit the town should spend a couple of hours to walk around the central part of the town, look at the local old churches like St Lua's church, go down to the marina and enjoy the views. Social life in the town is pretty active, there are a few annual events taking place there. There is a good community college in Killaloe.
