Littleton is a municipality in Arapahoe, Jefferson, and Douglas counties, central Colorado, United States, located on the South Platte River, at the intersection of U.S. Route 85 and Colorado State Highway 470, 11 miles south of Denver, and 55 miles north of Colorado Springs. The municipality is the seat of Arapahoe County and part of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area. It was settled in 1862, incorporated on March 13, 1890, and named for Richard Little. It is home to Arapahoe Community College. Local attractions include Littleton Museum, Sterne Park, South Platte Park and Carson Nature Center, Skate City Littleton, Pirates Cove Water Park, Cornerstone Park, and The Hudson Gardens & Event Center.
