Ma'an is a small city in southern Jordan, situated about 130 miles south of Amman. The name of the settlement is derived from the name of one Biblical personality, and the city is pretty old, with the history stretching through the numerous centuries. The area was ruled by the early Islamis emperors and the Osmani khans. Today it is a small settlement with the population close to 40 thousand people. Ma'an is the hometown of one of the Prime Ministers of the country, who served in the late 20th century.
