McCallister House: Home Alone Filming Location

Home Alone, directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes, premiered in 1990 and quickly became one of the most beloved Christmas comedies of all time. The film not only earned two Oscar nominations but also achieved massive box office success, grossing over $476.7 million worldwide. 

The exterior scenes, along with several interior shots—most notably the unforgettable first-floor landing moment—were filmed on location at the real McCallister House at 671 Lincoln Boulevard in Winnetka, Illinois. This red-brick, three-story Georgian home features five bedrooms and six bathrooms. Originally built in 1921, the property underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2018. Despite the updates, the home’s famous front door and main staircase remain unchanged, making it instantly recognizable to fans of the movie.
