Panama City: Capital of Panama

Panama City is the capital of the Republic of Panama and a large city located in the central part of the country along the Pacific coast. It is a key national hub and an important commercial center, best known for its location at the southern entrance of the Panama Canal, connecting North and South America. The city covers an area of about 106 square miles, with its downtown located in the southwestern part of the metropolitan area.

Panama City is one of the largest cities in Central America. It is located roughly 340 miles east of San José, Costa Rica, and about 470 miles northwest of Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. The surrounding region is known for its dense forests and protected natural areas, including Camino de Cruces National Park and Soberanía National Park. Chagres National Park, the largest national park in Panama, lies about 17 miles north of the city center and extends northward to the shores of the Caribbean Sea.

Panama City is a modern and fast-growing urban center, with many skyscrapers, contemporary shopping malls, markets, and public facilities. It is also a resort destination, offering quality beaches and hotels. Areas such as San Miguelito, Colinas de Cerro Viento, Pacora, Tocumen, and others form part of the wider metropolitan region.
