Panama City is the capital city of the Republic of Panama, a large city located in the central part of the country and facing the shores of the Pacific Ocean. It is a key part of the country and a large commercial center known for its location at the southern entrance to the Panama Canal, right between two continents, South America and North America. The city has an area of about 106 square miles and the downtown area can be found in the southwestern part of the metropolitan zone. Panama City is one of the largest cities in Central America and it is located about 340 miles east of the city of San Jose in Costa Rica, as well as about 470 miles north west of the city of Bogota, the capital of Columbia.

The area where the city is located is famous for its numerous forests and natural parks like Camino de Cruces National Park, Soberanía National Park, and other ones. The largest park in the country, Chagres National Park, is situated just about 17 miles north of the city center and it stretches to the north up to the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Panama City is a very modern settlement, with plenty of skyscrapers and up-to-date shopping centers, markets and social facility buildings. It is also a resort city with excellent beaches and hotels. The town of San Miguelito, Colinas de Cerro Viento, Pacora, Tocumen, and others are among the largest neighborhoods of Panama City. The Panama Canal is the main attraction and landmark of the area, with modern bridges and beautiful views all along with it.
