Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is a historic golf club located at 200 Tuckahoe Road in Southampton, New York, USA. It lies approximately 2 miles west of Tuckahoe, a hamlet within the town of Southampton on Long Island, and enjoys a great location near Peconic Bay. Established in 1891, the club is among the oldest golf clubs in the United States and is widely considered one of the best in the world. The original 12-hole course was designed in 1891 by professional golfer Willie Davis, while the clubhouse was designed by the architectural firm McKim, Mead and White. Shinnecock Hills is also one of the five founding member clubs of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 2000.
The club has hosted numerous major tournaments, including the U.S. Open, the Walker Cup, the U.S. Amateur, and the U.S. Women’s Amateur. It is scheduled to host the 2026 U.S. Open Golf Championship from June 18 to 21, marking the sixth time the event will be held at the club. Additionally, both the 2036 U.S. Women’s Open Championship and the U.S. Open Championship will take place at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club.
