Named after Prince Volodymyr, the Baptizer of the Kyiv Rus, this is the principal cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and one of the major landmarks of Kyiv city center. St. Volodymyr's Cathedral (Володимирський кафедральний собор) is famous for its amazing interior with plenty of mosaics, frescoes, and paintings, including the impressive entrance painting of the Holy Mother of God. The cathedral was built in the middle of the 19th century by Italian architect Alexander Beretti. St. Volodymyr's Cathedral is located at Tarasa Shevchenko Blvd, Kyiv, to the southwest of the National Opera of Ukraine and to the northwest of Taras Shevchenko Park.
