Located at 100 Market Street, between Pitt and Castlereagh Streets, in the very central part of the city, Sydney Tower (also known as AMP Tower, Westfield Tower, Centrepoint Tower) is the tallest free-standing construction on the continent, designed by Donald Crone and Associates (Now Crone Architects). It was constructed and opened in the early 1980s and its height is estimated to be slightly surpassing 1010 feet. It is towering over the financial and business center of the city. The main function of the tower is the broadcast transmission, however, there is a restaurant and a large observation deck known as the Sydney Tower Eye, situated in the upper section of the tower. Nearby attractions include Archibald Fountain, Hyde Park, Anzac Memorial, Sydney Town Hall, Chinese Garden of Friendship, Museum of Sydney, Australian National Maritime Museum, The Galeries, Pitt Street Mall, and so on. The tower is featured in the films like Mission: Impossible 2, Finding Nemo, and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.
