Hijack is a drama thriller television series created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, and directed by Jim Field Smith alongside Mo Ali. The series stars Idris Elba, Neil Maskell, Eve Myles, Christine Adams, Archie Panjabi, Ben Miles, and Max Beesley. It premiered on Apple TV+ on 28 June 2023, with its second season debuting on 14 January 2026. Hijack received critical acclaim, earning a Primetime Emmy nomination along with several other awards and nominations.
The series follows expert negotiator Sam Nelson (Idris Elba) as he tries to keep everyone alive using nothing but his words when a hijacked Dubai-London flight becomes a race against time.
The first season was filmed between 9 May 2022 and 8 November 2022. Production was handled by 60Forty Films, Idiotlamp Productions, and Idris Elba’s Green Door Pictures. Hijack was shot in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, UK. Filming took place at Symmetry Park in Aylesbury.
