Fiji, or the Republic of Fiji, is an island country and a world-known resort located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, close to the Australian continent. The country actually includes over three hundred islands, most of which are small and uninhabited, with wonderful lagoons, beautiful beaches and hills covered with ever-green forests. The total area of the country is estimated to be close to a thousand square miles which makes Fiji one of the smallest countries on the planet. The city of Suva is the capital of the country and it is located on the island of Viti Levu in the Central Division of the country. The Republic of Fiji is divided into 14 provinces and four divisions: the central, the northern, the eastern, and the western ones, according to their geographical position on the map of the country.

Due to its remote location, the country is quite difficult to reach. The closest large city of Australia is Brisbane located about 1,725 miles west of Fiji and the city of Auckland in New Zealand is located almost 1,335 miles south. The country is surrounded by other minor island countries like Vanuatu located 720 miles north west, American Samoa situated 820 miles east of Fiji, and New Caledonia which can be found about 840 miles west of the country. The largest cities of the Republic of Fiji include Nadi, Lautoka, Nabua, Namalata, Vanua Levu, Labasa, Ba, and others. Fiji is a paradise for those tourists who love of scuba diving, underwater sports, water skiing, boarding, kayaking, and other similar outdoor activities. There are also a few natural parks there like Colo-I-Suva Forest Park, Koroyanitu National Park, and so on.
