Geneva, Switzerland

Geneva is one of the most famous cities in Switzerland, located in the western part of the country at the southern tip of Lake Geneva. The city’s boundaries touch the border between Switzerland and France, but Geneva is part of the Swiss region of Romandy and is one of the French-speaking areas of the country.

Built on the banks of the Rhône River, the city overlooks the waters of Lake Geneva. The total area of Geneva is about 6 square miles, making it one of Switzerland’s most well-known resort cities. Geneva is located roughly 170 miles southwest of Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, about 83 miles northeast of Lyon in France, and around 125 miles northwest of Turin in northern Italy.
