Marburg is a town and a tourist attraction situated in the central part of Hesse State in the west central Germany. The town was established in the 12th century, on a wonderful setting near the river Lahn. The early history of the town is connected with the name of St.Elizabeth of Hungary who lived in the town for some years. There is a beautiful Goths cathedral of St. Elizabeth in the downtown. In the 16th century, a large university, the University of Marburg, was established, and it is still the main educational facility in the town. During the last century the town became a home to a few great hospitals and colleges. There are plenty of landmarks and tourist attractions in the town including the Old Botanical Garden, Marburger Schloss Castle, a few small local parks and some examples of really old buildings constructed in the late Middle Ages.
