North York is one of the central districts of Toronto, a city in Ontario, Canada. It was formerly a small township that merged with the growing city of Toronto in the mid-20th century. Known as “The City with Heart”, North York is considered the second most important business and commercial hub in Toronto, after the historic downtown.
Located directly north of central Toronto, North York is home to numerous business and office centers alongside modern residential neighborhoods. It is a large and predominantly young community with a vibrant and active lifestyle, offering many parks, cinemas, performing arts venues, and other entertainment facilities.
North York was incorporated as a township on June 13, 1922, and became part of the City of Toronto on January 1, 1998. Over the decades, it experienced rapid development, evolving from a suburban township into one of the city’s key districts. North York is situated about 20 kilometers east of Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The district is also a popular shopping destination, with many stores and shopping centers located throughout the area. The Shops at Don Mills are among the most popular and frequently visited retail areas. Other major points of interest include the Aga Khan Museum, Earl Bales Park, G. Ross Lord Park, Downsview Park, Centerpoint Mall, Promenade Shopping Centre, Meridian Arts Centre, and Douglas Snow Aquatic Centre.
