Mecca, Saudi Arabia

Mecca (مكة المكرمة) is a city known as the holiest place in Islam. It is located in the western part of Saudi Arabia and is one of the principal and largest cities of the Hejaz region. It is the destination of the annual pilgrimage (Hajj) for millions of Muslims who, according to the Qur’an, are required to visit the Kaaba, the most sacred site in Islam.

Mecca is home to the Kaaba and is also considered the birthplace of the Prophet Muhammad, the central figure of Islam.
