Pennsylvania, officially known as the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, is a state in the northeastern United States. It is bordered by Ohio to the west, New York to the north, New Jersey to the east, and Delaware, Maryland, and West Virginia to the south. The Delaware River forms the entire eastern border of the state.

The total area of Pennsylvania is approximately 46,000 square miles. Harrisburg is the state capital, while Philadelphia, located in the southeasternmost part of the state, is the largest city. Other major cities include Allentown, Pittsburgh, Altoona, Erie, and Wilkes-Barre.

Pennsylvania spans a large area between Lake Erie and the Atlantic Ocean. The northwestern part of the state faces the lake, with Erie located there, while the southeastern part is close to the ocean, with Philadelphia and Levittown about 70 miles from the coast. Much of the state is covered by forests and valleys, offering abundant natural beauty.

The state has numerous national and state parks, including Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River, Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, Bethlehem Municipal Water Authority, Long Pond Conservation Easement, Hickory Run State Park, Pinchot State Forest, Tioga State Forest, Susquehannock State Forest, Elk State Forest, Quehanna Wild Area, Rothrock State Forest, Allegheny National Forest, and Moshannon State Forest.
