The main city and the capital of Iran, Tehran is the largest city in the country, serving as its cultural and commercial center, a logistics and service hub, and a center of education and entertainment, as well as a popular tourist destination. Located in the northern part of the country, Tehran is situated in a small valley surrounded by the Alborz mountain range, which separates the city from the Caspian Sea region, and is near several national forests and natural preserves, including Varjin Protected Area, Khojir Natural Park, Lar National Park, and others.

Tehran is known as one of the greenest cities in the country, with numerous parks and gardens, as well as green areas along streets and within urban districts, contributing to cleaner air and a more pleasant city atmosphere. This historic city is best known around the world as a symbol of Islamic society, with beautiful mosques, palaces, towers, and temples, and as a city where diverse cultures and lifestyles coexist.

As the capital of a very large country, Tehran is densely populated. Administratively, it is divided into 22 districts, with two residential districts to the northwest and east of the city center being particularly large. Tehran is also an important strategic and transportation hub, featuring two major airports and a network of modern highways and railways crossing the city.
