Tenerife is the largest of the seven Canary Islands, Spain, located off the western coast of Africa in the Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the Macaronesia region and is considered one of the most modern and comfortable resort destinations in Europe. The island is often associated with Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which is one of its main cities and a provincial capital.

Tenerife offers a wide range of hotels and accommodation options suitable for different budgets. Its beaches, restaurants, and entertainment facilities are among the best in Europe. The island’s economy is primarily based on tourism and agriculture. It is also home to important institutions such as Hospital Universitario de Canarias and University of La Laguna. Every February, Tenerife hosts the world-famous Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which attracts visitors from around the globe and is considered one of the largest carnivals in the world after Rio de Janeiro.

One of the island’s most famous natural attractions is Teide National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the center of the island and home to Mount Teide, Spain’s highest peak. Other popular attractions include Siam Park, Playa del Duque, Anaga Rural Park, and Playa de las Teresitas. Tenerife is also a popular filming location. Movies shot on the island include Jason Bourne, Fast & Furious 6, Clash of the Titans, and Wrath of the Titans.

The island is served by Tenerife North Airport and Tenerife South Airport, with the southern airport handling most international traffic.
