Yellowstone National Park, USA

Yellowstone National Park is a vast natural preserve located in the north-central part of the United States. It is one of the largest national parks in the country. The park covers an area of more than 2.2 million acres and spans three states, with most of its territory located in Wyoming and smaller portions extending into Idaho and Montana.

The park is named after the Yellowstone River, which flows through the area and forms several impressive waterfalls. Yellowstone Lake is the largest body of water in the park, with a surface area of about 136 square miles, a maximum length of 20 miles, and a maximum width of around 15 miles.

Most of the park lies on the Yellowstone Plateau, with an average elevation of about 8,000 feet above sea level. There are several high peaks in and around the park, including Granite Peak, Trout Peak, Carter Mountain, Wapiti Ridge, Mount Moran, Mount Bennett, Housetop Mountain, Jackson Peak, Glover Peak, Hoback Peak, and others, mainly found in the southern and eastern areas of the region.

Yellowstone National Park is surrounded by a number of smaller protected areas and forests, including Caribou-Targhee National Forest, Grand Teton National Park, Bridger-Teton National Forest, Shoshone National Forest, Custer Gallatin National Forest, and others.
