2026 FIFA World Cup Locations
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This will mark the first time the tournament is co-hosted by three countries. A total of 48 teams will compete in 12 groups.
The opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on June 11, 2026, at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. Of the three host nations, Mexico City is the only capital selected as a match venue. Estadio Azteca also hosted the 1970 World Cup final and the 1986 World Cup final.
AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will host more matches than any other venue at the tournament, with a total of nine. The final will be played at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Estadio Azteca (Estadio Banorte) is a famous football stadium in Coyoacán, a borough of Mexico City, located at (19.3028392, -99.1508804). It is the home ground of Club América. Estadio Azteca opened in 1966 and has a capacity of 87,523, making it one of the largest football stadiums in the world. It has hosted unforgettable matches and plays a major role in the city’s history. In addition to the 1970 and 1986 FIFA World Cups, the stadium also hosted the 1968 Summer Olympics and the 1971 Women’s World Cup.
AT&T Stadium, home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, is a popular venue with a retractable roof located in Arlington, Texas, United States (32.748013, -97.0935841). Formerly known as Cowboys Stadium, it opened on May 27, 2009, and has a capacity of 80,000. The stadium hosted the 2010 NBA All-Star Game, which drew the largest attendance ever recorded for a basketball game.
