North & South Locations

North & South is a British television romantic drama miniseries directed by Brian Percival, written by Sandy Welch, produced by the BBC, and based on the novel by Elizabeth Gaskell. Starring Daniela Denby-Ashe, Richard Armitage, Tim Pigott-Smith, Sinéad Cusack, Brendan Coyle, Pauline Quirke, Jo Joyner, Kay Lyon, and Lesley Manville, the series was released from 14 November to 5 December 2004 on BBC One, ran for 4 episodes. It follows the story of a young woman, Margaret Hale, who is from southern England and forced to move to the North. North & South was shot in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Filming also took place in London, Bradford, Lancashire, and Selkirk. Hale's house was located at Saint Stephen Place, New Town, Edinburgh. The interior scenes of Thornton's house took place at The Georgian Group in Fitzrovia, London.
