Suspiria is an Italian cult classic supernatural horror film directed by Dario Argento, written by Argento and Daria Nicolodi, and loosely based on the 1845 essay Suspiria de Profundis by Thomas De Quincey. Starring Jessica Harper, Stefania Casini, Flavio Bucci, Miguel Bosé, Barbara Magnolfi, Susanna Javicoli, Udo Kier, Eva Axén, and Rudolf Schündler, the film was released on 1 February 1977 in Italy, 12 August 1977 in the USA. Suspiria was shot in Munich, Bavaria, Germany, and Rome, Lazio, Italy. Haus zum Walfisch located at Franziskanerstraße 5, Freiburg im Breisgau, was used for the dance academy. Filming also took place Villa Capriglio in Turin, Müller'sches Volksbad and Munich-Riem Airport in Munich.
